Leticia “Nana” Ortega, 47, of South Avenue, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Las Cruces, NM. Visitation will be 4 PM – 6 PM, Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home followed by a vigil at 6 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 AM, Friday, October 15, 2021 at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Hruday Kumar Pasala officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM.
Leticia was born October 15, 1974 in Carlsbad, NM to Benito G. and Jesusita (Palomino) Ortega, Sr. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1993. Leticia worked at CARC, Inc. for many years and most recently for CYFD. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Aaden. Leticia was an avid Raiders and Dodgers fan. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Elaueterio and Antonia Ortega and Jose and Maria Palomino; brother-in-law, Chris Vasquez.
Survivors are her companion, Will Holt; children: Andrew Martinez and wife, Kendra, Kianna Sosa and Gage Jordan, Michael Angel Sosa and Dakota Granger, Krysten Sosa and Allen Cole, Nicholas Sosa; grandchildren: Aaden Jordan and Jaxeon Sosa; parents, Benito and Jesusita Ortega; siblings: Benny Ortega and Denise Flores, David Ortega, LeRoy Ortega, Norma Ramirez and husband, George, Michael Ortega and wife, Racquel, Cindy Vasquez and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Will Holt, Andrew Martinez, Michael Sosa, Nicholas Sosa and Benny Ortega.
