Margaret “Maggie” Escobedo Najar

Margaret “Maggie” Escobedo Najar, 83, of N. 9th Street, passed away October 27, 2021 at her home. Visitation will be 4 PM – 7 PM, Monday, November 1, 2021 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM, Tuesday, November 2, 2021 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.

Maggie was born November 15, 1937 in El Paso, Texas to Salvador and Belen (Rodriguez) Escobedo. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1955. Maggie married Ramon Najar in October of 1956. She enjoyed playing cards with the “Golden Girls”. Maggie volunteered in numerous organizations over the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Belen (Rodriguez) Escobedo; husband, Ramon Najar; son, Tommy Najar; grandson, Christopher Najar and two brothers.
Survivors are her daughters: Carmen Najar and Myra Najar; sons: Randy Najar and Brian Najar; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Bobby Escobedo, Juan Escobedo, Manuel Escobedo, Sylvia Escobedo, Gloria Escobedo, Brenda Reinhart, Olga Escobedo, Larry Hernandez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Navarrette, Eric Navarrette, Tommy Najar, Dustan Najar, Justin Najar and Tommy Hernandez.
