Zofia Zaleski, 88, of Santa Fe, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Casa Rael Nursing Home in Santa Fe, NM.
There will be no public visitation.
A Graveside Service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, October 14, 2011 at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Father Cyprian, OFM, Conv. officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Zofia Zaleski was born April 27, 1923 in Warsaw, Poland to Joseph and Zofia (Jadczuk) Blaszczykiewicz.
She was a part of the Polish resistance against the German's beginning at the age of seventeen. Zofia was captured and lived in three concentration camps, escaped and was almost to Warsaw and was captured again. She was later freed by Americans. Zofia had an unbelievable "rosy" disposition and was known to be the most positive person. She worked as an artist for Hanna Babara Studios in Hollywood, California. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors are her daughter, Monika Niblett and husband, Gary of Santa Fe, NM; grandaughter, Krysha Scott and husband, Jay of Memphis, Tennesee; two great-grandchildren: Savannah Scott and Trevor Scott; sister, Hanna Szumielewiez of Warsaw, Poland.
