Zach R. Young

Obituary ZachYoung, age 24 of Carlsbad, passed away on October 2, 2020, in his home. He was surrounded by his family and in the loving arms of his mama. Zachwas born on August 6, 1996, in Carlsbad, NM. He lived in Carlsbad his entire life, attending school at Pate Elementary, PR Leyva, and then graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2014. He was every teachers model student and finished school 12th in his class. Zach will be remembered by his friends and former teachers for his sense of humor, his manners and his heart of gold. Zach was diagnosed with a brain tumor in the summer of 2015. He endured two surgeries and numerous other treatments and he was always polite and appreciative to everyone even when he struggled the most. He was courageous during his journey and never gave up. He made the decision to use his diagnosis as an opportunity to help raise awareness about his type of tumor in hopes for a cure for future patients. Zach had many people that provided care for him during his journey. His family is especially thankful for his team at Encompass Hospice Care. Crystal, Jamie, Nita, Yvonne and Crystal quickly became Zachs biggest supporters. Zach is survived by his loving parents: Tereasa & Ervie Ornelas, his older brother whom he admired and loved, Ian Young. He is also survived by grandparents, Steve & Renee West, Rhonda & Doug Salerno, Viviana Ornelas; his aunt & uncle, Christina & Larry Hernandez, and David & Julie Ornelas. Zach also leaves behind his cherished cousins: Gabby Hernandez and David Ornelas. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM, Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Ray Anaya Plaza de San Jose with Fr.
