Wyatt Nesbit, 86, of W. Thomas Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his home.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 13, 2017, 10:00 AM, at Faith Baptist Church with Pastor Jacob Reitz officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Wyatt Nesbit was born March 19, 1930 to Louie and Gladys (Martin) Nesbit. He was known by his friends at the potash mines as "Soda Pop". Wyatt came to Carlsbad with his family in 1948. He worked at the potash mines retiring in 1993 from Amax Potash. Wyatt was a member of Faith Baptist Church. His hobbies included working on cars and he took great pride in taking care of his lawn. Wyatt was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ann Nesbit; brother, Ralph Nesbit and twin brother, Dwyatt Nesbit. The family would like to express their gratitude to Lakeview Hospice for the great care of their father.
Survivors are his sons: Steve Nesbit of Ruidoso, NM, Donnie Nesbit of Carlsbad, NM, Dale Nesbit and wife, Pam of Carlsbad, NM, Marla Parson and husband, David of Creston, IA, Kathy Holcomb and husband, Ken of Roy, Utah; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother: Harold Nesbit and wife, Wanda of Brady, Texas; sister, Francis Henry of Alamogordo, NM; sister-in-law, Effie Mae Dingler of Carlsbad, NM.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Norval Ingram and Kevin Cummins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to SENMCAC - Meals on Wheels for Senior Citizens.
