Wilson "Bill" B. Wardwell, Jr., 84, of North Thomas Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Landsun Homes.
There will be no visitation, cremation will take place.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 28, 2014, 10:00 AM, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gene Harbaugh officiating.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Wilson "Bill" B. Wardwell, Jr. was born April 8, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Wilson Bonnifred and Helga (Gaardsmoe) Wardwell, Sr. He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict while stationed at Wold Chamberlain Naval Air Station in Minneapolis. Bill graduated from University of Minnesota in 1957 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He married Elaine Heaton on July 18, 1952. Bill worked as a professional engineer in Minneapolis and St. Paul Minnesota and later moved to Florida where he worked in Cocoa Beach and Ft. Lauderdale. After retiring in 1997 he and Elaine moved to Carlsbad. Bill was a life member of American Society of Civil Engineers and Florida Engineering Society. He was an avid train enthusiast and also a life member of National Model Railroad Association. Bill has served as an ordained Elder and Deacon in the Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Douglas Wardwell; sister, Anne Marie Wardwell Tuomala Drake.
Survivors are his wife, Elaine Wardwell of Carlsbad, NM; son, Alan Wardwell of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Elizabeth Wardwell of Memphis, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
