Willie "Bill" Allen

Willie "Bill" Allen, 85, of Georgia Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away February 14, 2010 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, NM. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 19, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Landmark Baptist Church with Dean Rutledge officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Willie "Bill" Allen was born March 21, 1924 in Old Glory, Texas to Elijah Ardist and Fannie Lenora (Geddy) Allen. He grew up in Texas until age 14 and then moved to New Mexico. Bill served his country in the US Army during WWII. He married Naomi Beeman on September 6, 1947 in Roswell. They moved to Carlsbad in 1951 where he went to work at Hamilton Roofing. Bill worked for Duval Potash for several years. He then went to work with his brother at Allen Roofing, where he worked until retiring in1989. Bill enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved watching his grandchildren in their sporting events. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 60 years, Naomi Allen; son, Danny Allen; granddaughter, Sheri Rutledge; grandson, Lee Allen; three sisters and four brothers. Survivors include daughter, Patsy Bailey and husband, Bob of Roswell, NM; son, Roland Allen and wife, Libby of Carlsbad, NM; daughter-in-law, Darlene Allen of Carlsbad, NM; 8 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-garndchildren; brother, Ethan Anderson Allen of Rising Star, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Rutledge, Ricky Rutledge, Robbie Rutledge, Gary Ray Allen, Seth Seabreeze, Mark Allen, Daniel Allen and Henry Allen.
