William "Red" Brown, 80, of Albert Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away September 19, 2013 at his daughter's home.
There will be no visitation, cremation will take place.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2013, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Price officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
William "Red" Brown was born November 19, 1932 in Ackerly, Texas to Floyd and Opal Inez (Pinkston) Brown. He moved to Carlsbad with his family in 1941. Red served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Frances Catherine Cooper on January 30, 1953 in San Francisco, California. Red returned to Carlsbad where he went to work in the potash mines. He was an underground electrician for U. S. Potash, Duvall, IMC, Mississippi Chemical and Kerr McGee and retired after 32 years of service. Red enjoyed his friends at the North Mesa Senior Center where he loved being the king of the pool hall. He took pride in his yard and never turned down the opportunity to be with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Opal Bratcher and Floyd Brown; wife, Kate Brown and daughter, Roberta DeAtley.
Survivors are his son, William "Bill" Brown of Navasota, TX; daughter, Leslie Rostro and husband, Bob of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Sondra Bailey, Shane Bailey, Tish Chavarria, Jared Rostro, Lanette Avila, Kerri Laywell, Katie Dyer; 13 great-grandchildren and sister, Joye Goad of Carlsbad, NM.
