William Lee Kammerer

William Lee Kammerer, 24, born March 8, 2000, in Silver City, New Mexico was confirmed to have passed from this life and on to the next on May 18, 2024. He is survived not only by his adoring family, but also by a tribe of individuals that were forever impacted by his bright-eyed unbridled passion for life and all the adventures to be had in it. Beloved as an adrenaline – chasing adventurer, courageous forest fighter and unconditional underdog advocate, he can only be remembered as a light that left behind a legacy of an unconventional life of unconditional love. 

He is preceded in death by his Great Grandpa Jack Sherman, Grandfathers George Shepard and Clay Keen, Uncle Jeff Wooten and Aunt Vicki Keen.

William Lee is survived by his parents John Keen and Kristina Ozzello, and his adoring brother Austin, age 11; Great Grandmother Mary Sherman (late Jack Sherman), Grandparents Jeannette Shepard, Thomas Ozzello (Janet aka Oma); Grandparents Rich and Peggy Nicholson; Aunt Tara O’Neill, and Cousin Aaron; Uncle Shawn Ozzello (Ana) and Cousin Stephanie; Uncle Cody Shepard and cousins Levi and Maveric; Aunt Jennifer Runnels (Rob) and his Lifehouse Family who walked alongside him since June 2023 on his recovery journey; and numerous more friends and extended family. 

Honorary pallbearers include Austin Keen, Chance Murphy, Kevin Dennis, Rosa Lomax, Ashlie Campbell, Destiny Duval, Serina Turrieta, and Cory Lawson.

There will be two Life Celebrations to commemorate the legacy and love of William Lee.

Carlsbad Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 9, 2024, at the Boys and Girls Club Event Center located at 206 E. Pecan.

Silver City Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Besse-Forward Global Resource Center located at 817 W. 12th Street on the Western New Mexico University campus. 

Randi, Chance, and Alyss Murphy will be officiating both Celebration of Life services.
