William F. “Bill” Crabb, 96, of Stagner Drive, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024 at his home with his family by his side. Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Please come prepared to share a story about Bill. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Sunset Church of Christ with Brian McGonagill officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will perform military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Bill was born August 1, 1927 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Tollie Willis and Lucille (Ridgeway) Crabb and moved to Carlsbad with his parents as an infant. He served his country in the U.S. Navy shortly after WWII in the South Pacific. Bill returned to Carlsbad, working for PCA several years. He married Willa Jean Netz December 25, 1950, wife of 50 years before her death in 2001. Bill owned and operated Industrial Painting 17 years and was in the construction business before retiring in 1983. He married Shirley Upton June 11, 2002. During retirement, Bill enjoyed hunting, spending time with family and playing golf – even making a hole in one three times. He was talented at pottery and copper enamel and a member of the Carlsbad Area Art Association where he sold and displayed a multitude of pottery over the years. Bill volunteered many years at both Skyridge Camp and later Mountainview Christian Camp with renovations and maintenance. He loved fishing in Colorado with family and fishing the Rio Grande with his brothers. Bill was a long-time member of Sunset Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Willa Crabb; granddaughter, Chloe Reisig; sisters: Irene Dorey and Rosa “Sissy” Jump.

Survivors are his wife, Shirley Crabb; daughters: Terri Webb and Penny Reisig; son, Jeffry Quinn Crabb; stepdaughter, Ranea Chambless; stepson, Brent Upton and wife, Page; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert Joe Crabb, Charles Lee Crabb, Walter Fred Crabb; sister, Joann Saunders, and numerous nieces and nephews.
