After many years in Throckmorton, Texas, the Thomas Levi & Mary Deborah London family left their dry land farm on September 5, 1921 to move to Loving, New Mexico to farm a forty-acre farm that was 1 miles northeast of Loving. Berry and two of the older boys went by covered wagon, while their momma and the younger seven children rode the train. Three other siblings were already grown and not living at home. William B. "Berry" London, born March 18, 1919 in Throckmorton, TX the youngest boy of twelve children, of Thomas and Mary (Selman) London, made his childhood home in Loving, NM at the old home place on what is now the corner of London Rd. and Nymeyer Rd. picking cotton and helping with all the farm chores. He left home at an early age then joined the Army in 1941 being sent overseas to Ireland, Italy, and Africa. Upon his honorable discharge from the service, he returned to Loving where he married Marie Bryant on January 31, 1946. He worked in the mines for a few short years before opening his own garage & parts house--the Loving Garage which later became B & R Supply. During these years he also sold cars and tractors and fixed many a car, truck, and anything with four wheels. This was his work life until he retired and sold the garage in 1991 at the age of 74. He, Marie, and Mary Alice then moved to Carlsbad. Berry enjoyed many years of playing Rook with kinfolks, fishing, dancing, and swimming. After he moved to Carlsbad, he loved dancing at the Senior Citizens Center and swimming at the CARC Farm. Many thanks go to all his swimming friends and to special caretakers, Cynthia Marquez, Irma Munoz, Chris, and Anna.
