Willene King Roberts

Willy Roberts, 87, passed away June 18, 2023 in Carlsbad, NM. Visitation will be 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Veilleux officiating.  Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery.

Willy was born in Carlsbad, NM on August 11, 1935 to William King and Ruby Jones. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1953 before starting her career, first at Western Commerce Bank and then at Carlsbad Magistrate Court until her retirement. She came into this world with a radiant spirit and a heart full of compassion. From her earliest days, it was evident she possessed a deep love for God and a genuine desire to spread love and kindness to all she encountered. She embraced her faith with unwavering devotion; finding solace, strength, and purpose in her relationship with the Lord.

As a daughter, Willy showered her family with boundless affection and unwavering support. Her presence was a source of comfort and encouragement, and she always sought to bring joy and harmony to the lives of her parents. She exemplified the true meaning of filial love, caring for her parents with tenderness and respect until they departed this world before her.

Willy’s greatest joy, however, came from being a mother and grandmother. Her love knew no bounds and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to their well-being; nurturing them with wisdom, grace, and unconditional love. Her daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren were truly blessed to have her in their lives and her legacy will forever be etched in their hearts.

She leaves behind a family and community who will always be grateful for the profound impact she had upon their lives. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will continue to shine brightly, reminding us to embrace the power of love and faith in all that we do. She was greeted at the gates of Heaven by her grandparents, John and Maude Jones; parents, William and Ruby King; twin sons, John Edward and Thomas Eugene; husband, Don; and her cousin, Peggy Johnson.

Willy is survived by her daughters, Jeanine Rogers of Albuquerque, Gwenette Bradley and husband, Larry of Carlsbad, and Donna Roberts of New York; grandchildren, Eric Rogers and Tessa Bradley of Albuquerque; nieces, Marsha McCool and Tracy Barnett of Montana; and dearest friend, Bob Stockwell of Carlsbad.

In light of her other great loves, her pets and the mission of Lakeview Christian Home, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Noah's Ark Animal Shelter, 5217 Buena Vista Drive, Carlsbad, NM 88220, Cat's Meow, 124 S.
