Wilda Morris

Obituary Wilda Mae Nichols Morris, 85, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away Saturday, January4, 2020, at Lakeview Christian Home. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. Interment will be at Sudan, TX, at a later date. A memorial service took place at Lakeview Christian Home with Chaplain Terry McLean officiating. Wilda was born September 30, 1934, to Wilburn Nichols and Audrey (Stokes) Nichols in Tahoka, TX. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1953. Wilda married W S Morris, Jr., on August 21, 1952, in Odessa, Texas. They moved to Carlsbad in 1954. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she worked in the Preschool Department and served as the preschool coordinator for 30 years. Wilda was a member of the New Mexico Disaster Relief Team and the Gideon International wifes organization. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading, and working with children. Wilda is preceded in death by her parents, husband W S, and son W S Morris, III. Survivors include one daughter: Barbara Walker and husband, Kevin of Fort Worth, TX; one son: Walter Morris and wife, Emma Fragua of Albuquerque, NM; three grandchildren: Ryan Walker and wife Mindi of Fort Worth, TX; Courtney Walker Hodges and husband Jack of Stephenville, TX; and Jasmine Morris; three great-grandchildren: David Walker, Allison Walker, and Stetson Hodges; and one sister Patsy Waller and one brother Troy Nichols.
