Wes Wilbourn, 70, passed away August 19, 2024. Wes resided on Mesa Street in Carlsbad, NM. Cremation has taken place and there will be no public services.
Wes was born on February 15, 1954, in Bell Gardens, CA, to J.I. and Nadine (Barnes) Wilbourn. He graduated in 1972 from Las Cruces High School in Las Cruces, NM. He was currently employed at Calvary Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed attending church and being with his church family.
An avid water and snow skier in his younger days, Wes never turned down an opportunity to go skiing. He could slalom ski like no other! He also enjoyed many other adventures. He rode bulls, was a small airplane pilot, a long-haul truck driver, and even once hitchhiked from Georgia to New Mexico. His mother knew nothing of this until he walked in the front door. His daughter Kelly said it was always an adventure while growing up. She said they were always doing something and learning something new. Children were drawn to Wes because he would match their boundless energy and keep up with them and play until he wore them out! Wes also had a soft spot for those less fortunate. He would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. And if he saw someone in need, even if it meant giving his last dollar away, he would not hesitate to do so.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Jan Carrico and Judy DuBeau, brother Allan Wilbourn, granddaughter Natalie Nadine Wilbourn, and several other family members.
Wes is survived by sons, Scott Wilbourn, Bradley Wilbourn and wife Jessica, daughters Kelly Wilbourn, and Kathrin Wilbourn, all of Carlsbad. Also surviving Wes are grandchildren Nathan, Ariel, William, Gavin, Teagan, Benjamin, Gabriel, Luke, Millieane, Katherin’s soon to be born daughter, sisters Martha and husband Darrell Ash of Las Cruces, Shawna and husband Lee of Carlsbad, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
