Wanda Townsend Hood, 85, of Avenue A, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2012 at her son's home in Rio Rancho, NM.

A Graveside Service is scheduled for Saturday, August 11, 2012, 10:00 AM, at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Dr. Larry Krueger officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Wanda Townsend Hood was born on February 4, 1927, in Lone Grove, Texas to Charles E. and Lula Tweet (Harrison) Townsend. She graduated from Big Springs High School. Wanda married William E. Hood in 1947 and they moved to Carlsbad soon after. She was involved in her kids' lives, helping with all of their many activities. Wanda was also an active member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. In 1968, Bill and Wanda began managing Apache Canyon Trading Post in White's City. She continued to manage the store with her sister, Tweetsy after Bill's death in 1992. Wanda's hobbies included quilting, sewing and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William E. "Bill" Hood; daughter, Vivian Lou "Boo" Bauer; brothers: Charles Afton Townsend, Bill Greer Townsend and sister, Carrie Tweetsy, Ditto.
Survivors are three sons: Dean Hood and wife, Patsy Coor Hood of Ruidoso, NM, Edgar Dale Hood and wife, Debbie of Longmont, CO, Afton Lynn Hood of Rio Rancho, NM; son-in-law, Tim Bauer; four grandchildren: Cory Hood and wife, Kelly, Jason Hood, Adrienne Aragon and husband, Israel, Staci Knight and husband, Brandon; great-grandchildren: Davis, Elora, Kayci, Casey, Jeremy and Michael; two sisters: Floy Standard, Joyce Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
