Wanda Hatch, 78, of Carlsbad, passed away September 13, 2021 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10 AM, Friday, September 17, 2021 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Howell Scott and Associate Pastor Kevin Pence officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Wanda was born July 30, 1943 in Lubbock, Texas to Cecil and Vivian (Irwin) West and moved to Carlsbad with her family in 1957. She married Troy D. Hatch July 30, 1959 here in Carlsbad. Wanda worked at Davis Bakery in the early years. She worked at Dairy Queen South for many years before retiring. Wanda enjoyed sewing, singing, writing songs and poetry and playing games with her family. She was an active member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Troy D. Hatch; granddaughter, Vanessa B. Smith; sisters: Cecilia “Shorty” Robinson and Ozell Cunningham; brother, Jerry D. West.
Survivors are her son, Troy Lee Hatch and wife, Rhonda; daughter, Robin Hatch; grandchildren: Travis Lee Hatch and wife, Tahnee, Sierra Cheyenne Taylor and husband, Bobby, and Mikayla Danielle Casey and husband, Ryan; great-granddaughter: Kyleigh Taylor; sisters: Patsy Menasco, Norma Cunningham, Estell Wigley and Terrie Jo Smead and numerous nieces and nephews.
