Wanda Eggleston, 77, of Vermont Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at her home. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 31, 2013, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rusty Smith of Guadalupe Christian Camp and Pastor Ramon V. Florez of River of Life officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Wanda Eggleston was born on May 19, 1935, in Gainsville, Texas, to Allison and Aline (Gunter) Kerr. She attended school in Odessa, Texas. Wanda married Jack Eggleston at the age of 14, on September 2, 1949, in Odessa, Texas. They moved to Carlsbad in 1950. After Wanda's children were in school, she began work at Furr's Grocery Store in 1971. Wanda worked as a checker and retired in 1993, after 22 years of service. Her hobbies included painting and cake baking and decorating. Wanda was a member of River of Life Fellowship. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Eggleston; great-granddaughter, Jasmine Johnson; sisters: Pauline Richardson, Frances Manley and Faye Morgan. Survivors are her daughters: Jean Mobley and husband, Larry of Branson, MO, Brenda Counts and husband, Randy of Carlsbad, NM, Laura Canion and husband, Thomas of Carlsbad, NM; son: Ricky Eggleston of Carlsbad, NM; Jeannie Eggleston; 10 grandchildren: Amy Gomez and husband, Chris, Jeremy Mobley and wife, Kristan, Heather Harvey, Keith Counts and wife, Alison, Jackie Dowdy and husband, Ty, Juwana Kinnibrugh, Thomas Johnson, Adam Johnson and wife, Joann, Corey Eggleston and wife, Kate, and Jarrad Eggleston and wife, Tiffney; 13 great-grandchildren; sister: Evelyn Hunt of Houston, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews Pallbearers will be Jeremy Mobley, Keith Counts, Thomas Johnson, Adam Johnson, Corey Eggleston and Jarrad Eggleston. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
