Walter T. Baker, Sr., 81, of North Mesa Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Carlsbad Medical Center. There will be no visitation. A Graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, 2013, 4:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Park with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Walter T. Baker, Sr. was born August 28, 1931 in Wheeling, West Virginia to Clyde William and Estella Marie (Emery) Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents and only son, Walter T. "Teddy" Baker, Jr. He is survived by his daughters: Jean M. Vinka of Carlsbad, NM, Susan L. Martin of Carlsbad, NM, Ruth Ann Sharp of Colorado Springs, CO; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Jackie McCabe of Carlsbad. He is also survived by close friend Eddy Campos of Carlsbad and Charles "Bud" and Lois Jurney of Artesia. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeview Homecare or Lakeview Hospice, 1300 N.
