Walter Ferris was born March 18, 1939 in Hartford, Connecticut to Walter and Ina (Butler) Ferris. He served his country in the US Air Force where he was stationed in Roswell. During one of his visits to Carlsbad he met Judy Siener at the Arrowhead Drive-In. Their romance began and they were married three months later on March 21, 1959. Walter went to work in the potash mines where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service. After retiring he enjoyed driving a school bus for Ballard and also driving buses for Carlsbad High School Athletics. It brought Walter joy to spend time with the kids. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. We know he will be missed by all of his many friends. Walter will always be remembered by his family for his ability to be a rock in a storm and a place of refuge. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Cathy Smith and Jean Ferris.
