Walter "Butch" Smith

Walter "Butch" Smith, 66, former resident of Carlsbad, passed away April 19, 2010 at University Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM, Friday, April 23, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Saturday, April 24, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park with Pastor D. Michael Lee officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Walter "Butch" Smith was born December 2, 1943 in Deming, New Mexico to Walter and Mae (Stewart) Smith. Though he never spoke a word, he touched many lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mae Smith. He is survived by his brother, Wade Smith and wife, Sharon of Carlsbad, NM; two sisters: Eva Smith and husband, Lonnie of Rotan, TX and Carolin Mathis and husband, Jim of Jedburgh, Scotland and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jessie Smith, Jody Smith, Jerry Smith, Chad Huston, J. D. Huston, Derrick Smith and Shane Cabler. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
