Wallace Augusta Humphrey (Sweeney), 74, passed awayFriday, June 19, 2020 in Carlsbad, NM. Graveside services on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Mr. Humphrey was born on December 20, 1945 in Waco, Texas to Arthur Monroe Humphrey and Rena Benton Humphrey. His siblings are sisters, Vivian Victor and Billie Baty and brother, Arthur Humphrey.
Wallace married Sidney Blaine on September 27, 1969 and they were married 50 years. They have one son, Izaak. Wallace was educated in Carlsbad, graduating from Carlsbad High School and attending New Mexico State University, Carlsbad. His military service began after high school and he rose to the rank of Sergeant the signal core. He was stationed in Ft. Polk, Louisiana, Ft. Carson, Colorado, Asmara, Turkey, Ethiopia, Saigon, Vietnam, Bangkok and Thailand. Wallace was awarded many metals during his service. After returning from the service, he was employed by the City of Carlsbad, Duval and Western Ag mines. Wallace loved reading, studying and trying to practice what was in the Bible. His passion was working with wood, hiking the great outdoors, fishing and visiting with people on a one-on-one. Most of all, he loved his family.
Wallace leaves to morn his wife, Sidney Blaine Humphrey; son, Izaak Humphrey and wife Henrietta; grandsons: Izaiah, Jeremiah; granddaughter, Ava Humphrey; brother, Arthur Monroe Humphrey, Jr.and wife Linda; nieces: Micah and Rachel Humphrey; grandnephews: Josiah and Jude; sister, Vivian Victor and niece, Mary; sister-in-law, Shelagh B. Marzett and husband Leroy and nephew Desmond Marzett; nephew, Shane Blaine and wife Laura; great-niece, Shayla; nephew, Jermaine Minner and family, nephew, Royal Traye Blaine and many other family members and friends.
