W. Jean Jones

W. Jean Jones, 93, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on August 9, 2023. Jean was born on April 3, 1930, in Roswell, NM to Alvin and Essie Cantwell.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. There will be a graveside service at 9:00 AM, Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM.

Jean married the love of her life, Charlie Jones on April 3, 1947, in Carlsbad, NM. They then started their family of three children. Jean was a lifelong member of the First Assembly of God Church and faithful follower of Christ. Her faith was important to her, and she lived her life sharing the gospel with those around her. She was a skilled quilter, and was apart of the Dorcas Circle Missions group at church. One of her favorite memories was when her husband built a covered wagon, and they traveled up to Queen and Lincoln, NM and spent the nights camping under the stars. They would cook biscuits and cobblers in a Dutch oven. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Jean preceded in death by her father, Alvin Mack Cantwell; mother, Essie Pearl (Harrell) Cantwell; husband, Charles Edwin Jones; and three siblings: Jody Lynn Brown, Mack Cantwell, and Barbara Ann Pinkert.

Jean is survived by her three children: Tom Jones and wife, Teresa of Carlsbad, NM; Charles Michael Jones and wife, Jeanne of Silver City, NM; and Marsha Renee Watson and husband, JD of Franklin, NC; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
