Virginia V. "Ginny" Franco, 60, of S. 2nd Street, Loving, NM, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 at her home. Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Tuesday, June 30, 2015, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2015, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Virginia V. "Ginny" Franco was born January 26, 1955 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Pedro N. and Amelia (Valdez) Franco. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1974. Ginny worked at PCA over 14 years and then went to work at Brantley Dam during the construction until it was completed. She then moved to Albuquerque and returned to Carlsbad recently. Ginny loved playing softball and was a very good catcher. She enjoyed a variety of sports. Ginny will be remembered for her hearty laugh and goofy sense of humor. Her family and friends will miss her generous and caring nature and will remember her incredible strength, fearless courage and passion for life. She was preceded in death by her father, Pedro Franco and brother, Peter Franco. Survivors are her mother, Amelia V. Franco of Loving, NM; sisters: Melissa Franco of Loving, NM, Melinda Diaz and husband, Jose of Carlsbad, NM; niece: Jasmine Diaz; nephew: Christopher Franco and several aunts, uncles, cousins and sweet dog, Greta. Pallbearers will be Domingo Armendarez, Jr., Mike Valdez, Jr., Ray Armendarez, Raymond Negrete, Rodolfo Valdez and Christopher Franco. Honorary pallbearers are Baltisar Dutchover, Lionel Valdez, Robert Martinez, Frank Valdez and Fidel Valdez, Jr. Special thanks to Cancer Services of New Mexico, friends at Encompass Home Health, Denton-Wood Funeral Home and all the friends and family that visited, called and supported us during Virginia's stay at home.
