Vincent Zapkus

Vincent Zapkus, 79, of W. Orchard Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM, Monday, June 19, 2017 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:30 PM, Monday, June 19, 2017 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Vincent Zapkus was born March 28, 1938 in Springfield, Illinois to Vincent and Eva (Black) Zapkus. He worked for Panske Trucks until retiring September 2, 1966. Vincent married Lavern Bradley and they lived in numerous cities throughout their lives. They moved back to Carlsbad in 2000. Although they didn't have children, they had their dog babies. He is survived by brother, Ivan Fink and wife, Ruth of Illinois; sister, Carol Harper of Illinois, nieces and nephews: Stacey and Tina Britain of Carlsbad, NM, Randy Britain and wife, Jennifer of Carlsbad, NM, Sheryl Mullins and husband, Terry of Carlsbad, NM, James Britain and wife, Paula of Oklahoma, Terry Britain of Oklahoma, Shauna White of Carlsbad, NM; sister-in-law, Mary Bell and husband, Wylie of Carlsbad, NM; cousin, Howard Jones.
