Victorio B. "Vic" Lopez, 80, of North Ash Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away September 7, 2009 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2009, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, September 11, 2009, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery, Carlsbad, NM. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Victorio B. "Vic" Lopez was born November 17, 1928 in Carlsbad, NM to Daniel and Merced (Baldivez) Lopez. He enjoyed sitting on the porch feeding the birds and reading the newspaper. More importantly Vic loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons: Victorio "Baby" Lopez and Michael Lopez; grandson, Fabian Munoz; brothers: Joe Lopez, Marcelino Lopez, Chon Lopez and sister, Juana Lopez. He is survived by his wife, Elvira Lopez of Carlsbad, four children: Patsy Madrid and husband, Mike, Larry Lopez and wife, Liz , Lori Lopez and Dora Munoz and husband, Bobby all of Carlsbad, NM; nine grandchildren: Mario Lopez, Danny Ray Lopez, Michael Lopez, Honesty Lopez, Adrian Rodriguez, Bradley Rodriguez, Emilio Lopez, Diego Lopez and Gym Santillanes; seven great-grandchildren: Amnysty Moreno, Jozlyn Lopez, Unique Quintela, Sammi Jo Rodriguez, Kirstie Rodriguez, Aiden Rodriguez and Tristen Rodriguez; three brothers: Dan Lopez of Carlsbad, NM, Johnny Lopez of Carlsbad, NM, Manuel Lopez and wife, Licha of Carlsbad, NM; five sisters: Elia Cordova and husband, Stan of Albuquerque, NM, Helen Garcia and husband, Virgil of California, Maria Galvan of California, Gregoria Fierro of Carlsbad, NM and Lala Rivas of Carlsbad, NM. Pallbearers are Michael Lopez, Jr., Gym Santillanes, Emilio Lopez, Diego Lopez, Mario Lopez, Bradley Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Adrian Rodriguez, Danny Ray Lopez and Honesty Lopez.
