Victor Onsurez

Victor F. Onsurez Sr., age 85 of Loving, NM peacefully passed into the hands of the Lord on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 and taken to Eternal Life at home, surrounded by his family. Victor was a firm believer in Jesus Christ, a member of the Loving Baptist Church and an avid guitar player. He was known for his strong and upstanding presence in the Farming and Loving communities, being a farmer and proud landowner for over 60 years. His hands and voice were made of steel, but his heart of gold. He was better known for his honest opinion, powerful voice, hard work of his land, and the love for his family. The love and need for him to see his family grow and succeed are only surpassed by his many preaching about the word of God, respect and hard work. He truly did live "un dia ala vez", he knew he was only one man, believing in everything he could be. His powerful dialogs on farming, respect, and the Lord will forever live in our minds and hearts of his family. His words and actions during his last days were, "I love you very much", a wink and thumbs up, much the way he lived his life. "I lift up my eyes to the mountains-where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you-the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm-he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore". Psalm 121 Victor is survived by Concepcion, his loving wife of 64 years; sons: Victor Jr. and wife, Juanita; Lionel and wife, Nelda; Dennis and wife, Rosa all of Loving, NM. Daughters: Sylvia and Pearl Onsurez of Carlsbad, NM, 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; sister Theodora Ogas of Roswell, NM. Friends and family may visit Friday, May 20, 2016 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home 1001 N. Canal St. Carlsbad, NM 88220, a prayer service will follow. A Christian celebration of life will be held at the Loving Baptist Church, 101 S. 6th St. Loving, NM at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2016 with Pastor Jimmy Tarvin officiating. Interment will follow at the Loving Cemetery, Loving, NM. Pallbearers will be: Victor Onsurez III, Eric Onsurez, Daniel Onsurez, Lionel Onsurez, Jr., Vance Onsurez, Cory Lawson, Aaron Lawson, and Michael Sanchez, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be: Denny Onsurez, Dominic Onsurez, Demetrius Onsurez, and Manuel Sanchez, Jr. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
