Veta London, 86, passed away October 31, 2021
Veta (Cody) London was born August 27, 1935 to Robert and Rheba Colter in Liberty Community, NM. She was the youngest of 4 children and was raised on a ranch in DeBaca Co. She graduated from high school from Ft. Sumner. Veta married Ernest London August 28, 1954 in Clovis. Together they had two daughters: Raylene and Carolyn. They enjoyed traveling and were very active in Lions Club. She was the first woman district governor in New Mexico. Ernest and Veta enjoyed numerous cruises. She loved crocheting and gardening and especially loved her grandkids and great-grandkids. Veta was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Zelma Smith and Lavelma Parks; and brother, Freedus Colter.
Survivors are her husband of 67 years, Ernest London; daughters: Raylene (Warren) Taylor of Carlsbad, TX and Carolyn Schoonover of Olive Branch, MS; six grandkids: Dawn Taylor of Plano, Texas, Donna Cross of Achille, OK, Jeffery (Storm) Schoonover of Germantown, TN, Levi (Sara) Taylor of Seabrook, TX, Matthew (Marty) Schoonover of Lubbock, TX, Tamara (Jason) Hall of San Angelo, TX; 16 great-grandkids.
Visitation will be 12 noon - 1:00 PM, Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Carlsbad Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
