Velda V. Hudson

Velda V. Hudson, 74, of Hopi Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at her home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 27, 2017, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Emeritus Dennis McKinley officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Velda V. Hudson was born February 13, 1943 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to Roy and Marie (Rush) Cupp. She attended school in Midland, Texas. Velda married Ronnie D. Hudson April 1, 1960 in Del Rio, Texas. They moved to Carlsbad in 1962. Velda enjoyed making candles and never turned down the opportunity to spend time with her family. She looked forward to going to the casino in Hobbs. Velda was a long time member of Landmark Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronnie Hudson; great-grandchildren: Ashlen Jade and Emily Lynn Boyd; 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors are her daughters: Karen Louise Miller, Pamela Briggs, Alice Renee DeHahn and husband, Richard; son, Ricky Hudson and wife, Aimee; grandchildren: Misti, Diana, Cristal, Todd, Vanessa, Trisha, Ashley, Teddy and Scotty; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Houseden and husband, Jimmy; brother, Marvin Cupp and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ricky Hudson, Michael Alt, Todd Briggs, Johnny Sundberg, Robert Meek, T.J. Atwater and Jaron Alt. Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
