Valerie "Honey" Marquez

Valerie “Honey” Marquez, 36, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Valerie was born on March 16, 1988, in Carlsbad, NM to Alvino and Lorene Fierro.

Cremation has taken place, and there will be no viewing. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.

Honey grew up playing several sports such as baseball, softball, basketball and ran cross country. She met her husband at 13 and went on to be high-school sweet hearts. Through life everyone knew honey as a strong, funny, intelligent and for being genuine. Honey and Rudy had two babies Raelie and Havanna which like to take them out hunting and fishing.

Valerie was preceded in death by her father, Alvino Fierro; and sister, Veronica Lopez Fierro.

Valerie is survived by her husband, Rudy Marquez of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters: Raelie Fierro and Havanna Marquez both of Carlsbad, NM; mother, Lorene Fierro of Carlsbad, NM; three siblings: Mark Fierro and wife, Rita of Carlsbad, NM ; Victoria Gonzales and husband, Steven of Carlsbad, NM; Jesse Fierro of Carlsbad, NM; sister-in-law, Cheralle Lopez of Carlsbad, NM; close friend and sister, Monique Valenzuela of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
