Twana Wheeler, 90, of E. Orchard Lane, Carlsbad, NM, passed away September 13, 2024 at her daughter’s home.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Cindy Kerr and Celeste Wheeler officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Twana was born September 23, 1933 in Marlow, Oklahoma to James and Edith (Southward) Sparks. She graduated from high school in Livingston, California in 1951, and then graduated from cosmetology school. George and Twana were married in Merced, California in 1954. They moved to Carlsbad in 1958. Twana was very involved in raising her children and their many activities. She was active in Assistance League for many years as well as PEO where she cherished her many friendships and giving program. Twana was a talented seamstress and loved crafting and scrapbooking. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Wheeler; brother, Slim Sparks; sisters: Odetta Cook, Bunny Nelson, and Viv Larson.

Survivors are her children: Celeste Wheeler, George Wheeler, Cindy Kerr and husband, Mike, and Edie Denton and husband, Norman; grandchildren: Andrea Hutchison, Deniece Otwell and husband, Stephen, Kirby Wheeler and wife, Lauren, Jared Chambless and wife, Megan, Jacque Ballew, Caleb Wheeler, Cory Gray and wife, Victoria, Kyle Gray and wife, Nicole, Cody Gray, Brantley Wheeler and wife, Katie, and Alyssa Testroet and husband, Joel; 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
