Obituary Tommy Lawson "TomCat" Warren, 63, of Lake Street, passed away Sunday, March 3rd, 2019, at Landsun. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, March 15, 2019, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Brian McGonagill and Jimmy Neatherlin of Sunset Church of Christ officiating. Tommy Lawson Warren was born in Newton, North Carolina, to Theodore Lafayette Warren and Freddie Joan Smith Warren on January 8, 1956. His family moved several times during his childhood but Tommy and his family relocated to Carlsbad shortly after he graduated from Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Missouri in 1975. When Tommy came back to Carlsbad, he went to work in the mines where he eventually became employed at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant where he worked for over 30 years. He also worked for the City of Carlsbad from 2015 to 2018 until he became too ill to work. Tommy met the love his life, Gloria K. Cherry of Carlsbad, NM and they married on December 14, 1978, at Sunset Church of Christ by Eddie Sharp. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in December of 2018. The proud couple was blessed with a baby girl, Vallie Retha Warren, in 1983. Tommy was a family-oriented man and enjoyed spending time with his wife and daughter. He enjoyed taking his family to the movies, fishing as a family, playing miniature golf, going on trips where he and friends and family enjoyed being together and bonding. He was a joyful man who loved life and loved people. He was very social and talked to people everywhere he went. He loved having coffee with his buddies at McDonald's on weekend mornings. Tommy also had several hobbies which included fishing, hunting, flying remote control airplanes, collecting train sets, and playing the guitar. Tommy was preceded in death by both of his parents, Ted and Freddie Warren. Tommy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gloria Warren, his daughter Vallie Warren who is called Baby Girl, and his other "baby girl" Tinker Bell, a 5-year-old yorkie who he adored. He is also survived by: sister, Linda Harris and husband, Johny of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Kathy McCrory and husband, Billy of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Randy Warren and wife, Debbie of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Leslie Warren and wife, Alice of Lubbock, TX; sister-in-law, Sheila Tate and husband, Don of Dallas, TX; brother-in-law, Billy Cherry of Tucson, AZ; brother-in-law, Art Cherry and wife, Denis of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
