Tommy Dodson

Tommy Dodson, 71, of N. Edward Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away January 23, 2023 at University Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas.  Cremation will take place and a memorial service is scheduled for 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.

Tommy was born October 20, 1951 in Carlsbad, NM to Wallace and Louise (Lee) Dodson.  He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1969.  Tommy worked in the potash mines before continuing his career at WIPP.  He worked as a hoist operator for WIPP, retiring in 2017.  Tommy was a member of IBEW and BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1558.  He enjoyed spending time with his Elks friends.  Tommy loved anything sports, especially NASCAR and Fantasy Football.  He enjoyed spending time with his wife and best friend, Janet, on their fishing excursions, trips to the family cabin and playing in the snow with grandkids.  Tommy was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and always had a huge smile on his face and was loved by everyone.  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kellie White and daughter-in-law, Debra Dodson.

Survivors are his wife, Janet Dodson; children: Jennifer Dodson of Carlsbad, NM, Michael Dodson of Dallas, Texas, Leslie McDonald and husband, Kenneth of Phoenix, Arizona and Donnie Gibson of Aurora, Colorado; grandchildren: Zachary Dodson, Colby Dodson, Megan Boese and husband, Ben, Chase Bryant, Drew Bagwell and wife, Alee and Austin Gibson; great-grandchildren: Amber Dodson, Nate Boese, Margot Boese and Carson Bagwell; brothers: Larry Dodson and wife, Terri, Phil Dodson and numerous nieces and nephews.
