He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, serving two years with the U.S. Navy and 20 plus with the U.S. Air Force. Randy served three tours in Vietnam. Following his military retirement he settled in Carlsbad where he worked and retired from WIPP after 18 years. After his retirement from WIPP he moved to South Padre Island to enjoy his wind surfing, warm water and tropical breezes, where he could live out his life in shorts and flip-flops. Per his wishes, a memorial gathering will be held in May on South Padre Island where his ashes will be set free in the waters where he went sailing.
