Teresa R. Dodson, 70, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. Teresa was born on September 27, 1953, in Colon, Panama to Robert and Edith Johnson.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, August 2, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Stephanie Yocom officiating.
Teresa grew up in Panama, and went to Christobal High School, and then graduated from Carlsbad High School. Afterwords, she went back to Panama for a year where she attended college, and then returned to Carlsbad and started working for Southeast Ready Mix as a bookkeeper. During that time, she started her family of three girls, and then later married Larry Dodson on February 15, 1992, and they were known as the Brady Bunch. Teresa also worked for Western Commerce Bank and Accu-Rite Tax Services before retiring. She then became a full time grandmother, spending as much time with them as possible. She loved watching Days of Our Lives, listening and dancing to her records, playing cards and board games, traveling, and watching her granddaughter dance. Teresa had a huge heart, and her home was always open to anyone, as she welcomed them to be a part of the family. Christmas was also a big deal to hear, and she would always spend months out of the year getting ready to make the holiday special for everyone in her family. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Teresa was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Johnson; and mother, Edith (Fleishman) Johnson Riggleman; sister, Patricia Clopine; brother, Russell Smith.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Larry Dodson of Carlsbad, NM; six children: Leah Christine Dodson of Texas; Robert Keith Dodson and Michael of Alamogordo, NM; Kevin Frank Dodson and Christy of Maricopa, AZ; Elizabeth Denise Gibson and Jeff of Carlsbad, NM; Jessica Diane Gibson of Carlsbad, NM; and Katherine Laverne Gibson of Carlsbad, NM; sixteen grandchildren: Sage, Riley, Chritopher, Kaden, Kolt, Haley, Tomas, Nickolas, Harold, Niziah, Sergio, Rylan, McKenzie, and Janay; seven great grandchildren: Kandy, Winter, Thunder, Journey, Bella, Sage, and Eden; two sisters: Judy Carrasco and Joe of Carlsbad, NM; and Carol Dixon of Florida; and several extended family and friends.
