Taurino "T.J." Trevino, Sr., 66, of Hickory Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014, at his home.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A vigil is scheduled for Tuesday, Feburary 4, 2014, 7:00 PM at St. Edward Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2014, 10:00 AM, at St. Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Cyprian Uline, OFM, Conv. officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Taurino "T.J." Trevino, Sr. was born on October 23, 1947, in Loving, NM, to Lorenzo and Anastacia (Florez) Trevino. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1966. T.J. served his country during Vietnam in the 31st Combat Engineer. He enlisted September 27, 1966 and was honorably discharged with combat wounds February 23, 1969. T.J. received three Purple Hearts and four Bronze Service Stars. He was a dedicated life member of the American Legion, a member of the Lake Carlsbad Golf Association, and an avid golfer. T.J. held all positions with the American Legion including past national vice-commander. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lorenzo Trevino, Jr., and sister, Bessie Mata.
Survivors are his wife, Josie Trevino of Carlsbad, NM; children: Carolyn Jurca and husband, Michael of Hillsboro, Oregon, Taurino "T.J." Trevino, Jr. and wife, Brooke of San Diego, California, JoAnn Trevino and husband, Jon Terribilini of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren: Ali Taylor of San Diego, California, Adam Coor of Carlsbad, NM, Maia Jurca of Hillsboro, Oregon; brothers: Guadalupe Trevino and wife, Sandy of El Paso, Texas, Viviano Trevino and wife, Delia of Loving, NM, Ernesto Trevino and wife, Anna of El Paso, Texas; sister, Frances Trevino of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lionel Navarrette, Tom Quintela, Henry Gutierrez, Danny Miller, Rick Onsurez and Robert Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are the Legionaires.
