Sylvia Porras, 62, of Hueco Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in Odessa, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 24, 2016, 10:00 AM, at Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ with Simon King officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Sylvia Porras was born January 29, 1954 in Carlsbad, NM to Joe and Margarita (Gonzalez) Minjarez. She attended Carlsbad High School. Sylvia loved spending time with her grandchildren, dancing and listening to music. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mage Minjarez; daughter, Angela Faulkner and three brothers: Chito Dominguez, Mike Ortiz and Ray Ortiz. Survivors are her daughters: Latoya Granger and Anthony Ingram of Odessa, Texas, Hiva Dominguez of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Beto Dominguez and wife, Jane of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Trine Armendariz of Loving, NM, Anita Ortiz of Artesia, NM; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
