Steven Scott Smead

Steven Scott Smead, 39, of Townsend Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016. There will be no visitation, cremation will take place. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, May 16, 2016, 10:00 AM, at combined First Christian and First Presbyterian Churches, 212 N. Halagueno Street, with Rev. David Wilson Rogers, co-pastor of combined First Christian and First Presbyterian Churches officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Steven Scott Smead was born June 25, 1976 in Dallas, Texas to Richard A. and Virginia (Hamilton) Smead. He worked at Mosaic Potash as an underground industrial mechanic. Steven also served for several years as vice president of United Steel Workers Union-188A. He was a loving husband, father, brother and son. Steven was loved his family and friends and he was loved by many. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Allen Smead. Survivors are his wife, Kathleen Smead of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Richard Gomez of Italy, Erick Gomez of California; daughters: Kiana Gomez of Carlsbad, NM, Angelica Gomez of Carlsbad, NM, Zoey Smead; mothers: Terrie Jo Smead of Carlsbad, NM, Virginia Bussey of Carlsbad, NM; brothers: Cecil Smead and wife, Stacy of Lubbock, Texas, Jerry Smead and wife, Katrena of Carlsbad, NM; nephews: Ashton Smead, Caden Smead; nieces: Natalie Smead, Jeri Janel Smead, Margaret Hammon.
