Steve D. Barnes

Steve D. Barnes, 50, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at the Carlsbad Medical Center. Steve was born on January 31, 1973, in Carlsbad, NM.

Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2023, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Dale Gifford officiating. Interment will follow at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM.

Steve graduated from the Carlsbad High School in 1991. He spent his career working in the oilfield, and for the last six years he worked for OXY as a pump mechanic. Steve enjoyed taking his razor out and riding around Brantley Lake, working on welding and wood working projects, watching his favorite movies, and being creative with his drawing. He was a giving person, and always took an opportunity to help someone in need. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tommy and Ernestine Bryan; and niece, Chellsey Riley.

Steve is survived by his wife, Shelley Barnes of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Dalton Barnes of Carlsbad, NM, Johnathan Johnson of Hobbs, NM, Jesstin Gadbury of Artesia, NM; grandchildren: Kaleigh, Kadymn, Jett, Kaclyn and Jyrus; parents, Terry and Glenda Willard of Burbank, OK; three siblings: Sherry Kincaid and husband, Darrel of Oklahoma; Lora Miller of Oklahoma; and Stacy Willard and wife, Tracy of Hobbs, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Trey Daniel, Steve Ward, Jarrad Burkham, Dennis Harrison, Rick Buendia and Timmy Harris.  Honorary pallbearers are Peewee Harris and Stacy Willard.
