Stella Mae Howard

Stella Mae Howard, 91, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at her home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Monday, November 16, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Pastor Randy Land officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Stella M. Howard was granted her wish on November 12, 2015. She was born April 11, 1924 in Mineral Wells, Texas to Elbert Jerome and Roxie Lee (Vaughn) Hamric. Stella had lived in Carlsbad most of her life where she worked at Blounts Cafe and Battiste Restaurant. She became a stay at home mom after the birth of her son. Stella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; all her siblings: 5 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Roberts Knight and husband, Sam of Ft. Worth, Texas; her son, Ricky L. Howard and wife, Mary of Carlsbad, NM; step-son, Cliff Howard and wife, June of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Lori Hayes, Joel Howard, both of Carlsbad, NM, Christopher Knight and wife, Kelli of Ft. Worth, Texas, Janette Howard of Addison, Texas, Randy Howard and wife, Kara of Roswell, NM; great-grandsons: Ethan Knight of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jaxon Howard of Roswell, NM and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A very special thank you to her caregivers - without their love and care, her wish couldn't have been granted. Pallbearers will be Sam Knight, Ricky Howard, Randy Howard, Janette Howard, Steve Powell and Matt Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers are all of Stella's caregivers.
