Shon Trent Eastman

Shon Trent Eastman, 45, passed away on Monday November 29, 2021 in Carlsbad, N.M. He courageously entered the next chapter of life surrounded by his closest loved ones: his mother, son, sisters, nieces and nephews, and partner.

Shon leaves behind a beloved son, Kaiden Eastman; his mother, Teresa Larez and husband Antonio Larez; two sisters, Nicole Warren, and Kaitlin and husband Eric Tercero, step mother Linda Eastman and two step-sisters, Rhonda and husband David Bryant and family, and Jennifer and Steve Smith and family, along with his absolute most favorite people in this world, his nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Madison, Austin, and Dalton Warren, and Jairon, Isabella, and Avianna Lozano; and the one who undoubtedly held his heart, his great niece Rylie Lewis or to him, little Ry Bug; his partner Brianna Tucker and 3 step kids, Nico, Erin and Sarah; and many other cherished family and a countless sea of friends.

Shon was born to parents Douglas Brent Eastman and Teresa D. Setser on August 5th, 1976. Shon grew up always knowing he was extremely loved. Some may say even a little rotten, but if you knew his Granny, you didn’t argue about it. He demonstrated that loving nature throughout his life through the way he portrayed his love for others. Shon adored his family. He often said that family takes care of each other and their love makes this life beautiful. Shon was always first to take care of his family, even during times when he struggled himself. Being the connoisseur of all decades and genres of epic music, having a knack for making the most mouthwatering and delicious food, and for simply being in the company of his loved ones, are the things that filled most of his satisfied days. He held major bragging rights for perfecting his technique for cooking asado on the disc with his friends and family, but also enjoyed when someone else cooked, so going to Buffalo Wild Wings, or as he called it BDubs, on his days off became his thing.

After attending Carlsbad High School, he and his high school sweetheart, Dena McCormick Eastman were married and had their son Kaiden Gavin Eastman. Kaiden was the absolute joy of Shon’s life. He always ensured that his son knew where his heart was, and loved him beyond measure. He faithfully instilled all of his greatest characteristics and wisdom into his time with his son. Kaiden was his greatest achievement in life. Shon supported his family by working at the Potash Mines for several years. Like so many others we know and love, the workload and long hours of that life led Shon to seek sanction in the form of addiction. With the greatest devotion of his mother and Granny, who prayed faithfully for many years for Shon to be saved from that fate, their prayers were finally answered when Shon prevailed and chose to devote his life to faith and living only in trust and love.

With a new breath for life, Shon pursued an Engineering major in college. He was by far one of the most brilliant minds we knew. Shon was a sought-after math tutor at NMSU where he was proudly Vice President of the honors society, Phi Theta Kapa, before earning a scholarship to attend New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, NM. His math capability still amazes most of us. Not many can breeze through Calculus or Quantum Physics the way he did. Shon eventually moved back to Carlsbad to be near family and took a break from his degree pursuit.
Full of clever wit, unmatched character, intense love, and profound humor, Shon commanded attention in any room that he entered. He was extremely full of life, more than the vast majority of people you meet in your lifetime, and to say he loved his family and friends more than we could have ever deserved is still a huge understatement. Ask anyone who knew Shon and they will tell you that he was THE most lovable, no doubt most ornery, always protective, blatantly confident, unequivocally intriguing, and hands down the most legendary person they ever knew. He effortlessly made you feel like he was your BEST FRIEND, and you instantly knew you were forever loved and protected by him. The loss of his life leaves a gaping hole in so many hearts. Shon was always found spending his spare time with any one of his loved ones, but always thrived on being the life of the party. His quirky sense of humor was unique and like no other, and he had a genuine desire to make you smile. He always looked out for everyone’s best interest over his own. He made sure that meals were provided to families in need or who had just lost a loved one. He would have given the shirt off his back to help another. He and his partner of 10 years, Brianna Tucker, often enjoyed trips to the river or backyard bonfires. Shon and Brianna had planned on getting married in the future. Shon had an indescribable bond with his Granny and his mom. The many memories that they shared will forever be carried on in our hearts.
The amount of love and support his family has received during this time is unexplainable. We want to thank everyone for honoring his life by giving care to his family during this difficult time. We know he is smiling down at the love that's being shown.

Shon is preceded in death by his father Douglas Brent Eastman, his Granny Bernice and Papa B.A. Setser, Dorothy Bath and George Eastman, and his step-father David Cunningham.

Shon’s life left an imprint on everyone he knew. He will be beyond greatly missed. Shon searched for many years to find the peace of Christ in such a broken world. We find comfort in knowing he is enjoying true life to the fullest extent.

Pallbearers will be: Kaiden Eastman, Eric Tercero, Austin Warren, Russell Warren, Larry Mabry, Rodney Mabry, Eric McCormick, Steve Ruiz, and Kevin Forlines.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Niko Tucker, Jairon Lozano, Dalton Warren, Rob Rich, and Josh Masters.

Public viewing will be held at Denton-Wood Funeral Home on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 11am-1pm.

Services are under direction of Denton-Wood Funeral Home and will take place at Calvary Assembly on Friday December 10, 2021 at 2 pm. Interment will follow immediately at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
