Shirley Ann Means, 74, of Farrell Drive, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at her home.
Visitation will be 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Friday, July 31, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby W. Fuller officiating.
A private interment will be in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Shirley Ann Means was born January 13, 1941 in Sacramento, New Mexico to Jeff and Irene (Patrick) Loring. She moved to Carlsbad with her parents as a young girl where she attended Carlsbad schools. Shirley married Oran Means on November 23, 1958 here in Carlsbad. She enjoyed being involved in Denise and Romi's school years helping with Rainbow and many school activities. Shirley worked with Oran in the insurance business over 42 years. She also maintained a NM real estate license. Shirley's hobbies included painting, sewing, spending time in the mountains and she had a passion for genealogy. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors are her husband, Oran Means; daughters: Denise Griffith and husband, Alan of Carlsbad, NM, Romi Means of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren, Kimberly Griffith of Ft. Worth, TX, Brent Griffith of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Peggy Moredick of Dennison, TX; several nieces and nephews; her dog, Lady and special friend and caregiver, Maria Cervera.
