Shirley K. York

Shirley K. York, 68, of Pinon Lane, Carlsbad, NM, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 16, 2015. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday, January 19, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Calvary Assembly of God Church with Rev. Phillip Price officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Shirley Kay Dennis York, was born October 8, 1946 in Clovis NM to Jerald and Geraldine Dennis. Shirley married Gary York in June 1967. They spent 47 loving years raising their sons, grandchildren and great grand children in the family home. She attended Carlsbad schools until graduating in 1964. She worked at the Carlsbad Caverns and retired from Carlsbad Schools after 20 years of serving school lunches at Riverside Elementary School. Shirley was a member of Red Hat Society. She enjoyed bunco, karaoke, bingo, stockcar racing, watching bull riding and crocheting. She also enjoyed attending all the grandkids sporting events and spending time with all the babies and kids. Shirley loved camping in Ruidoso and eating breakfast cooked over a campfire so much that she would make Gary cook breakfast outside in the backyard or down at the beach. We love you Marmar and we miss you terribly already. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerald and Geraldine Dennis. Survivors are her husband, Gary C. York of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Dennis York and wife, Katie of Carlsbad, NM, Keith York of Carlsbad NM: grandchildren: Lindsey Enloe, Ashley Bell, Gavin York, Matthew Enloe, Samantha York, Jamison Call and Dylan Call; great-grandchildren: Brayden, Nathan, Zach, Deven, Ethan and sister, Barbara Hall and husband, Bill of Summerville, SC. Pallbearers will be Dennis York, Keith York, Matthew Enloe, Gavin York, Josh Bell, Dalton Click, Michael Bassett, Norman Allen. Honorary Pallbearers are Nathan Gonzales, Nathan Gonzales Jr., Brayden Enloe, Zach Bell, Deven Bell, Ethan Bell, Mason Gregory, Chunky Click, John Conner, Tim Click, Jerry Click, Larry Don York, and Buddy Collis.
