Shirley E. Overturff, 74, of West Greene Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away April 24, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, April 29, 2011, 2:00 PM, at River of Life Church with Pastor Ramon V. Florez officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Shirley E. Overturff was born December 22, 1936 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Wade and Louise (Mitchell) Berry. She graduated from Henryetta High School in 1955. Shirley married Charley Overturff on July 16, 1955 in Henryetta. They moved to Carlsbad in 1957. Shirley was able to be at home with her kids while they were young. In later years, she worked at Wal-Mart 20 years, where she retired. Shirley enjoyed embroidery work. All of her grandchildren have baby quilts that will be cherished for years to come. She enjoyed playing games and loved to win. Shirley always liked to camp with her family and a campfire was a must. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charley Overturff; grandson, Joe Paul Overturff; sister, Audrey Hardgrave; two brothers: E. W. Berry and Bobby Berry.
Survivors include four children: Brenda Florez and husband, Ramon of Carlsbad, NM, Ernie Overturff and wife, LaDonna of Carlsbad, NM, Cindy Hester and husband, Jeff of Albuquerque, NM, Tammy Overturff of Carlsbad, NM; seven grandchildren: Vanessa and Charlee Florez; Chas and Carlie Overturff; Karrah, Dylan and Joshua Hester; great-grandson, Axle Overturff; extended grandchildren: Brandon Campbell, Albert Ramirez, Jr., Elisha, Alyssa and Josiah Florez, Angeleah, Brendon and Arielle Cuevas and Zoe Florez; sister, Glenda Mason and husband, Sam of Henryetta, OK; sister-in-law. Johnnie Mae Berry of Henryetta, OK and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Hester, Dylan Hester, Joshua Hester, Chas Overturff, Jr. Ramirez and Brandon Campbell.
