Sheri Green Dorman

Sheri Lynn Dorman, age 62, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023, at her home in Carlsbad.

Sheri was born April 20,1960, in Dallas, Texas, to parents Donald and Martha Green. She was the middle child with her older brother, Terry Green, and her younger sister, Tina Green.

In 1969, their family of 5 moved from Dallas, TX, to Carlsbad, NM, where she graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1978. She began attending the Eddy County Beauty College her senior year of high school and earned a gold medal in the state cosmetology competition that year. She graduated from Eddy County Beauty College in 1979 and began her career.

She worked at several shops over the years, and developed a special love for her elderly clientele. She was especially proud of the years she worked at Landsun Homes. Later, she returned to the Eddy County Beauty College to work as an instructor and found teaching to be an unexpected joy.

Sheri had two biological children, Todd Wright and Kristal Wright Allen, and was blessed with two additional sons, Joe Dorman and Jayson Dorman, when she married the love of her life, Steve Dorman, on April 28, 1994. Their marriage was full of football, fishing, food and family.

In 2000, her career goal was accomplished when she opened Hair Time with her sister, Tina. They were able to serve the community of Carlsbad for twenty years through Hair Time and created a family with the girls that worked alongside them. 

Sheri loved her 4 kids fiercely and her grandkids even more so. She cherished her title of Nana and you could always find her cheering on her grandkids in whatever they loved to do.  Her family was everything to her and some of her favorite times were those spent gathered with her people around a table, enjoying good food, sharing stories and laughter. 

She was a talker and a hugger, and expected everyone else to be too, whether they liked it or not. She loved her animals and her family is pretty sure that she has a basset hound named Lowboy by her side with a little dog named Kargo in her lap with countless others crowded around in heaven. 

Sheri is survived by her husband, Steve Dorman of Carlsbad, New Mexico, her children, son, Todd Wright (wife Jennifer, granddaughter Sydney and grandson Trevor) of Gunter, TX, son, Joe Dorman (wife Jacquelynn, grandsons Brady and Benji and granddaughter Zoe) of Midland, TX, daughter, Kristal Wright Allen (husband Gary, grandsons Kord and Gage and granddaughter Madi) of Carlsbad, NM, and Jayson Dorman (wife Sara and granddaughters Brielle and Cora) of Rowlett, TX. 

She is also survived by her brother Terry Green (wife Jayne) of Dell City, TX, sister Tina Green (Lewis Willis) of Carlsbad, NM, sister-in-law Cathy Rouse of San Angelo, TX, sister-in-law Sandy Gregory (husband Randall) of Andrews, TX, sister-in-law Cindy Rowlett of Lubbock, TX, niece Amy Jo Green, great-niece Raquel, great-nephew, and Marquis of Littlefield, TX, and her beloved dog Koko.

She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Green, mother, Martha Green, father-in-law, Al “Buster” Dorman and mother-in-law, Shirley Partridge Dorman.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Sheri’s life will be held Monday, March 13, 2023, at 10:30AM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Emory, Texas.
