Sharon Urquidez, 56, of South Third Street, Loving, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Friday, July 11, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Veilleux officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Sharon Urquidez was born November 23, 1957 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Reyes and Mary Jean (Trujillo) Urquidez. She graduated in 1976 from Carlsbad High School. She was a life long resident of the Loving and Carlsbad area. She worked as a CNA at Carlsbad Medical Center, Landsun and Lakeview. Sharon always took care of everyone, and never met a stranger. She was ready to welcome anyone with open arms. She enjoyed knitting and making blankets for her grandchildren. Sharon was a member of the Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jean Urquidez and son, Matthew McKinney. She is survived by her son, Mark Urquidez McKinney and fiance, Evelyn Segura of Carlsbad, NM, T. J. Liddell of Loving, NM; father, Ray Urquidez of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Cheyenne, Jordan, Kylee, James Roy, Aaliyah, Abrielle Jean Lynn (on the way); uncle, Raul Urquidez of Carlsbad, NM; aunts: Ermenia Castillo of Carlsbad, NM and Rosa Escobar of California. Pallbearers will be T. J. Liddell, Kenneth Urquidez, Alan Brown, Roy Hernandez, Tim Carrasco and J. J. Munoz. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
