Serapio "Apio" Muoz, 86, of Irvin Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away July 10, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center.
Cremation has taken place and upon his request there will be no public service.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Serapio "Apio" Muoz was born September 3, 1924 to Sabino and Inez (Bustamonte) Muoz in Carlsbad, NM. He served his country in the US Air Corp. during WWII. Apio was a part of the 82nd Airborne Paratrooper Division. He married Thelma Womack on December 23, 1950 here in Carlsbad. Apio opened Munoz Floor Company in 1962 and operated the business until retiring in 1992. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and five brothers.
Survivors are his wife, Thelma Muoz of Carlsbad, NM; son, Jim Muoz and wife, Mary Ellen of Carlsbad, NM; two granddaughters: Anna Muoz and husband, Karlos Sachs of Alexandria, VA, Christina Muoz of Alburquerque, NM; great-granddaughter, Zion Muoz Candelaria; sister, Mary Chavez and husband, Daniel of Carlsbad, NM and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
