Scott “Pops” W. Nyrkkanen, 60, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022. Scott was born on October 17, 1962, to Frank and Ardith Nyrkkanen in Waukegan, Illinois.

In 1971, his family moved to Carlsbad, NM where he attended school. Scott and Lissa together had 4 kids. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. Anyone who knew him though, knew he loved spending time at home watching wrestling and ghost shows. He loved listening to his rock music and enjoyed going to concerts. He also enjoyed going out to the river. Pops was an awesome and fun guy who could make anyone laugh. On December 9, 2022, he left this world with so much love by his side. His laugh, love and sarcasm will be greatly missed. We love you Pops.
"Our dad only ever had one crap to give and he held onto it until the very end."
Scott was preceded in death by father, Frank Gabriel Nyrkkanen; mother, Ardith Nyrkkanen; and two brothers, Charles Nyrkkanen and Andrew Olson.
Scott is survived by his six children: Samantha Rogers and Hunter of Carlsbad, NM; Kendra Nyrkkanen of Midland, TX; Katelynn Nyrkkanen and Jonathon Reynolds of Carlsbad, NM; Scott Nyrkkanen and Amanda of Carlsbad, NM; Christian Salcido of Carlsbad, NM; and Chloe Salcido of Carlsbad, NM; best friend and mother of his children, Lissa Nyrkkanen O’Daniel of Carlsbad, NM; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four siblings: Frank Nyrkkanen and Bridah of Phoenix, AZ; Mike Nyrkkanen and Jo Ellen of Vero Beach, FL; Sandy Pruitt of Carlsbad, NM; and Nancy Hartman and Alan of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
