Scibey Cox

July 23, 2001 — September 24, 2024

Carlsbad, New Mexico

Nathan “Scibey” Cox, 23, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Scibey was born on July 23, 2001, in Carlsbad, NM to Amanda and Billy Cox.

Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, September 30, 2024, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 AM, Wednesday October 2, 2024, at Guadalupe Christian Camp with Rusty Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Cox Family Cemetery in Queen, NM.

Scibey grew up on his family’s ranch outside of Carlsbad. His young life was spent playing in the dirt working with his tonka trucks. He loved working machines. As he got older, he developed a love for soccer, livestock showing and working on diesel trucks. He was an active member of Brushpoppers 4H for 9 years. He had a love for anything mechanical and the highlight of his high school years was doing a diesel engine swap. If you wanted to talk about engines or turbos, he was your guy. Scibey also played Cavemen soccer from 8th grade through his sophomore year. He loved to love people who were down and out and had the most compassionate heart. Scibey spent a couple of years working his dream mechanic job at 4 Elements diesel shop under the mentorship of Jake Tipton and more recently had started working for Mewbourne Oil. He was loved so dearly by his family and the hole his passing has created will never be filled. He was and always will be our Bubba.

Scibey is survived by his parents: mother, Amanda Lynette Cobb; father, William Zachary Cox; sister, Kenna Cox; brother, Aiden Cox; cousins: Tristan, Aubrey, and Riley Cox, Ashley Cass, Jasmine, Kimber, Fernanda, Jaxon and Santiago Cobb; uncles and aunts: Matthew and Karie Cox, Matt and Jodie Chrism, James and Gina Cobb; paternal grandparents Joe and Janet Cox; Maternal grandparents: Jim and Nancy Cobb.

Pallbearers Jake Tipton, Tristan Cox, Riley Cox, Mitchell Sage, Teagan Erickson, Trent Hughes, Trevor Robichaud, Joe Morin.
