Santiago “Tayo” M. Lara, Jr. was born January 22, 1965 to Santiago and Gregoria Lara. He passed away on December 16, 2022, in Las Cruces, NM surrounded by his family.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 AM Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home with Tony Rodriguez officiating. Following there will be a lunch served at the Iglesia De Cristo fellowship hall.
Santiago was a member of the Indian Dancers, loved to play baseball and golf. He attended Carlsbad Schools and received his GED and then went on to college in Las Cruces. With the help of John Heaton he graduated in 1994 with a degree in Respiratory Therapy. He worked in many hospitals in Las Cruces, El Paso, Lovington, and Carlsbad. He was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Santiago was also into music, and during his younger years, he went to many concerts. Then Santiago had a stroke in 2017, after he went to live with his children and wife in Las Cruces.
Santiago was preceded in death by his dad, Jimmy; his paternal grandparents, Elauterio and Petra Lara; maternal grandparents, Nicho and Lily Muniz; two brothers-in-law, Joe Perez and Larry Tesillo.
Santiago is survived by his wife, Martha Lara; sons, Michael and Gilbert; daughters, Lydia and Destiney; grandchildren: Analiyah and Enrique; mother, Gregoria M. Lara; sister, Alejandra M. Perez; brother, Ely Lara and wife, Staci; nephew, Joe John Perez and wife, Monica: there children, Jazmyn, Audrie, and Harley; niece, Amanda Traylor and husband, Shane: there children, Nate and Nash; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
