Sandy Gail Carrasco Fuentes Duarte, 53, of Irvin Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011 at her home. Visitation will be Monday, November 14, 2011, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Monday, November 14, 2011, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial is scheduled for Tuesday, November 15, 2011, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 S. Debaca, with Fr. Valentine Jankowski OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Sandy Gail Carrasco was born February 21, 1958, in Carlsbad, NM to Augustine E. and Sophia (Hernandez) Carrasco. She grew up in Carlsbad and attended Carlsbad Schools. She married Frank O. Fuentes, Sr. at age 16 and they started a family. They were married for 16 years. She worked at Lakeview Christian Home for 3 years and then became a Residential Assistant Coordinator at CARC, Inc. from 1990-2001 (approx. 11 years). Sandy also worked part-time for Home Care Connection as a private duty aide. She enjoyed her kids, grandkids, being a sister and friend. She loved to play card games, Skip Bo and Bunco. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nancy E. Hobby in 2010; and brother, Frank Carrasco in 2004. Survivors are significant other, Jose Luis Rodriquez of Zaragosa, Texas; children: Lisa Fuentes Bridenbaugh and husband, Ben of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Frances S. Fuentes of Waco, Texas and Frank O. Fuentes, Jr. and wife, Katy of Carlsbad, NM; 10 grandchildren: Melanie, Jordan, Christian, Kaleb, Nehemiah, Xiaja, Jake, Anna, Bella and Andrew; siblings: Sally Hemminger and husband, Ray of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jimmy Carrasco of Detroit, Michigan, Rosemary Vasquez and Henry Hildago of Roswell, NM, Joe Carrasco and wife, Flo of Carlsbad, NM, Brenda Carrasco of Austin, Texas, Olga Galvin and husband, Raul of Odessa, Texas, Elsie Wilson and husband, Walter of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Gloria Carrasco of Austin, Texas; honorary sister, Sandra Hernandez and husband, Jerry Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends; and special angels, Clay and Linda Wilson of Carlsbad, NM. Pallbearers are Ismael Vasques, Jeremy Childress, Augustine Carrasco, Marcello Williams, Jerry Martinez, James Williams, Robbie Flores. Honorary pallbearer is Rafael Gutierrez.
